My First Fantasy Baseball Draft of the Year

Finally had my first fantasy baseball draft of the year on Monday night.

The rules for this league are a little out of the ordinary. For example, scoring categories are: R, H, HR, RBI, SB, TB, E, OPS, IP, W, CG, SV, K, BLK, ERA, WHIP. Positions are: C, C, 1B, 1B, 2B, 2B, 3B, 3B, SS, SS, LF, LF, CF, CF, RF, RF, Util, Util, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P.

Anyway, I had the #4 pick in the draft, which I used to take Mark Teixeira. Next I took Miguel Tejada, because SS is typically a tough position to fill. This is an 8-team league, 30 players per roster. My full roster:

C: Rod Barajas, Kenji Johima
1B: Mark Teixeira, Nick Johnson
2B: Mark Loretta, Ron Belliard
SS: Miguel Tejada, Bill Hall
3B: Melvin Mora, Eric Chavez
LF: Adam Dunn, Randy Winn
CF: Grady Sizemore, JD Drew
RF: Austin Kearns, Mike Cuddyer
UTIL: Travis Hafner, Jason Giambi, Coco Crisp
SP: Jake Peavy, Roy Halladay, Rich Harden, John Lackey, Matt Cain, Scott Kazmir, Joe Blanton
RP: Huston Street, Tom Gordon, Bob Wickman
P: Derek Lowe

I like my team. I think I've got some good power, shoot hit for a decent average, and have good starting pitchers at the top. My biggest concerns are my young starters and my old relievers. Matt Cain, Scott Kazmir, and Joe Blanton all basically have one year of experience or less, but all were solid last year, and all have the potential to be very good. For my relievers, it's no secret that Street only has one year, and Wickman and Gordon are old. So hopefully they hold up.

What do you think?
