By now I'm sure you know that the Texas Rangers just barely hung on to beat the Orioles in the first game of a double-header by the score of 30-3. But here was some of the things that I found most interesting about the game:
- Despite scoring 30 runs, the Rangers only scored in 4 different innings. For five separate innings they were held scoreless.
- The Orioles actually had a 3-0 lead, which means the Rangers scored 30 unanswered runs.
- The Rangers #8 and #9 hitters (Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Ramon Vazquez): 8/12, 2 BB, 4 HR, 9 R, 14 RBI. That's called getting production out of the bottom of the lineup.
- Every Rangers started had at least 2 hits. The one guy for the Rangers that came in off of the bench (Travis Metcalf) hit a grand slam.
- The Rangers had 6 HR, but only 2 doubles.
- Wes Littleton of the Rangers, by virtue of pitching the final 3 innings, recorded a save. In a 30-3 game. That is awesome.
Other than the enormity of the runs by the Rangers, what did you find most interesting about the game?

This is freakin incredible!!...30 runs after being down 3-0 after three innings!!!
Michael Young had no RBIs, I found that pretty amazing.
In my post I wrote that the most interesting thing was the game took only 3:21 to complete. How is that even possible?
This is just the weirdest damned game ever. Maybe we all slipped into some paralel universe where the Rangers are the best team in the galaxy last night.
Did you see the highlight on ESPN when they showed the out of town scoreboard from another park and the commentator saying that its a typo and the game was actually 27-3 and not the 17-3 being displayed because they dont have a place for a "2" in that column. Crazy stuff
The Rangers still struck out 11 times, and the day after the Orioles manager signs an extension his team's ERA rises a full half run in ONE GAME in AUGUST!
wow.
I have to wonder if the O's would have still signed the extension with the manager. Or the other way around too: had they offered the extension after the game, would he take it. 30 runs is pretty humiliating.
another thing:
all of the runs were earned.
Just added ya to the list of favs. Here is mine if your interested.
