He may not be the best RB in the NFL yet, because he is not a great pass catcher or blocker... but I think that Adrian Peterson is already the most explosive RB in the NFL with the ball in his hands.
He single-handedly won it for the Vikings today (with a little help from Ryan Longwell). 20 carries for 224 yards and 3 TD. He also set up the game-winning FG with a long kick return. For the game, he had nearly 360 total yards on 25 touches (20 carries, 1 reception, 4 kick returns). Wow.
Through 5 games he now has 607 yards rushing, 4 TD, and 6.3 YPC. He's also got 10 receptions for 175 yards and a receiving TD. For good measure he also has 248 yards return yards. So by my calculations, through 5 career games, Adrian Peterson has 1030 total yards.
This is why I thought Adrian Peterson would be the Rookie of the Year.

Imagine how good the packers would be if they had trade up for this guy. There is only so much DeSean Wynn that I am capable of taking.
AGREED!
It's definitely a good time to be a Vikings fan (not that I am). Peterson had some advantages, I think, in coming into the NFL under the radar. He hasn't been quite as hyped as Reggie Bush was, and I think that's allowed him to settle in. And he's settling in very nicely.
The Purple Jesus is scary. i am glad he is a in the purple and gold. The power and speed he has is a rare gift.I just hope he stays health, if so he will be a good back 4 while.
I LOVE this guy. I read an SI article about him in the preseason, and coaches boasted about his reckless abandon when he runs the ball. They have taught him to slow down and wait just enough for blockers to establish holes for him, but his fearless style is what makes him a truly dominating back.
Now, if he can only avoid the injuries that plagued him at OU, he should be a top 3 back in the league for years to come.
Adrian Peterson Is the Most Exciting Running Back To Watch In The NFL!
