I want to extend my personal thank you to Doug Gottlieb. Let me explain.
With a few seconds left in the first half of the Duke/Wake Forest game, J.J. Redick drove to the lane and got bumped by Eric Williams, and no foul was called. I have to admit, it probably was a foul, but Mike Patrick and Dick Vitale threw in their two cents, which I bet you can guess. It was something like this:
Mike Patrick: J.J. Redick just got HAMMERED on that play.
Dick Vitale: Yeah no doubt about it Mike, you got to call that one. He's really taking a beating out there.
So anyway, it gets to the half, and Doug Gottlieb says in an obviously sarcastic tone, "I'm just amazed that J.J. Redick is still alive after taking that beating at the end of the first half. Amazed!"
This comes just a week fter Doug Gottlieb called Duke the "Floorslappers." So thank you Doug Gottlieb, for doing something that I'm sure all of us would like to be in the position to do.

That's great.DG is a bit of an arse at times, but he knows what he's talking about. He's also one of the few ESPN guys who doesn't fellate Duke every chance he gets.
Ah, Doug Gottlieb. The day before he also spent some time complaining after Duke's game that the refs called a foul when Redick was shoved in the back near the end of the game, because he's one of those idiots that believes that the refs should "swallow their whistles" at the end of games and let teams get away with shoving and holding. I hate that opinion.
I'm a Duke fan (NC native and graduate of the school) and I absolutely can't stand Vitale or Mike Patrick at all. My least favorite announcers ever. They're obvious homers for whatever team is winning, among other noticeable faults. (Since Vitale does way too many Duke games, and Duke wins a lot, it adds up. But he acts that way about any winning team; just let him get started on "Michaelangelo" Dean Smith. Or how great John Wooden was, and all those UCLA teams.)
I'm not even sure that Vitale/Patrick are that biased towards anyone, they just go way overboard on any type of praise. Today Mike Patrick said Justin Gray was a great, great player that could have challenged J.J. Redick for the ACC scoring title if Wake had a decent PG. Last I checked, they had one of the best PG in the nation last year, and Gray didn't do anything near what Redick did this year.
According to Vitale, Duke, UNC, and Wake Forest all have incredible recruting classes, BC's Assistant Coach is a great coaching mind that needs a head coaching job, etc.
I think when you combine this with these guys doing lots of Duke games, and Duke really being worthy of a good amount of praise for what they do, they're seen as Duke fanboys.
In reality, I don't even really mind Vitale or Patrick individually, but when they're paired together everything is great or awesome, and it gets a little annoying.
As for Gottlieb, he does seem to have an anti-Duke bias a little bit, but other than that I really like him.
