Twins Update: 1-1

Well I'm an avid Twins follower, so I'll give some periodic updates on them, and I figured what better time than after their first win of the year?

The Twins were able to pick up a win, in a convincing manner, 13-4 over the Blue Jays. It's early, but it certainly looks like that offense will be improved. The Twins got Solo HR from Shannon Stewart and Luis Rodriguez, and also a Grand Slam from Torii Hunter, who finished with 6 RBI. All of the Twins regulars got a hit except for the very bad Tony Batista.

Brad Radke pitched 6 innings for the win, but the best Twins pitcher was Fransisco Liriano, who pitched 2 scoreless innings and struck out 3. He throws an upper 90s fastball, a low 90s slider, and a mid 80s changeup. He is just filthy out there. He'll definitely be a lot of fun to watch.

Tomorrow: Carlos Silva vs. Gustavo Chacin in the rubber match.

I think the twins could surprise some people. They're probably as good a bet as any to take 2nd in the AL Central. Rob Neyer actually has them winning it:

He's usually right about the Royals (he's a royals fan) so, who knows what the Twins are capable of? Especially if Morneau can breakout.
Stewart, however, is flirting with replacement level. Time to get a new left fielder in there.

Great blog!
