By and large, the games were pretty dull. Sure, we had a couple more close games than yesterday, but the action wasn't all that enthralling. So I won't even bother going over everything.Instead, my unheard plea to CBS. Heck, I'm pretty sure that when I say this I'll be speaking for practically everyone.
The announcing duo of Bill Raftery and Verne Lundquist is infinitely better than the Jim Nantz/Billy Packer combo... so why aren't they the #1 team? Why will we have to suffer through another Title game with Nantz and Packer when there's a much better duo out there?
Seriously, do you know one person who prefer Packer and Nantz? Me neither. They're boring, they're aggravating, and they're full of hyperbole (well, Nantz is at least). Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery are entertaining, funny, and Bill has better insight than Packer.

Lundquist-Raftery: I thought I had hyped them up too much before the tournament but they were head and shoulders above the rest.
Billy.....Bill Packer......Seriously, just get one thing right in your life please. I'm begging you for your own sake. It's going to get ugly soon....I promise.
Please CBS, I beg of you... if practically everyone prefers Raftery/Lundquist, can they all be wrong?
And don't get me wrong, I know the change would never be made... but I just cringe everytime I find out Nantz/Packer is calling a game that I want to watch. Your thoughts?

Agreed 100%, but more because I love Lundquist and Raftery instead of how bad Nantz and Packer are (although they do sometimes put me to sleep).
As a Gator and having a lot of games called during the year by Lundquist and Raftery, i may be a little biased, but Nantz and Packer just won't be giving me enough "little kisses off the glass."

Nantz and Packer are pitiful. It's obvious Packer went into the UNLV-GT game without watching a second of film. Do your job Billy, even if you're covering one of the dreaded non power conference teams you hate so much.
Raftery and Lundquist are very solid. Hell, Gus Johnson is better just because he likes his job. It sounds like Packer doesn't want to be there in the first place.
Why not try a Raftery/Gus Johnson team?
Raftery is everyone's favorite color guy, and who doesn't like listening to Gus Johnson get excited?
As a lifelong Nets fan, I had the pleasure of listening to Bill Raftery and Ian Eagle for several NBA seasons.
I think Ian and Gus Johnson should be the top 2 pbp guys for CBS and for color, Bill Raftery should be cloned 8 times over.
Seriously though guys like Jim Spanarkel, Jay Bilas and Len Elmore were also excellent on color.
I am going to have to disagree. I think this crew is certainly better than packer and Nantz. However they are not my number 1 team. My number 1 team is Gus Johnson and Don Bonner. I love Gus, I think he is the best play-by-play CBS has and it is a damn shame and even a crime that they aren't letting him do Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games but instead having James Brown do it.
Is it just me or does Gus Johnson have a voice immodulation problem?
Well, now you know me and I hate Bill Raftery. I've never heard him say anything particularly insightful and worse, he's insufferably annoying. Just repeating words like "man to man" in a funny voice does not make it a catchphrase.
I could definitely do without Raftery's breathy emphasis. It sounds like there's someone under the table twisting his nuts.

I do agree with you guys about Gus Johnson... definitely love that guy, and like Mini Me says its a shame he's not doing any games past the sweet 16. I almost think Johnson and Raftery would have too much excitement... I loved Gus with the more subdued Elmore, and I think Verne and Raftery work well together.

I just heard a 2 hour slurp fest with Dick Enberg and Jay Bilas. Wow. They were constantly talking about how great UNC was. The game was really close until like 2 minutes left, but if you were listening to it you would have sworn it was a blowout.
I just needed to get that off my chest.
Disagree... 100%. Packer is not only the best cbs college hoops announcer, but the best all round college hoops announcer. I think he is very informative. He knows what he's talking about... don't forget he has an entertaining voice. He may not have the best English, but just because he's not afraid to express his opinion and criticize players, coaches or officials when it's warranted, means you need to hate on him. I dont mind Nantz, yes he may be a better fit for football, but I like this duo... and yes they should be CBS's NUMBER ONE TEAM.

Raftery is the worst announcer in all of sports, college or pro. He plays up players that are no good, states the obvious and does those annoying voices. Even Packer is better.
I HATE BILL RAFTERY. His unintelligible, poorly inflected one-liners are constantly being spewed from his denture filled lips. His voice is meant solely for radio broadcast.
